All of us have a role in creating a school that feels welcoming and inclusive. Many of the lessons I teach deal with recognizing the power of our words to hurt or heal. Along those lines, I wanted to introduce you to an organization called Welcoming Schools which addresses family diversity, gender stereotyping and bullying and name-calling in a K-5 learning environment.
